A poem called Legacy by Alfonso Siverls

    Poetry

    My Last Walkabout

    I am the living history
    of my story, past
    and present, episodes
    of joy, pain, love and
    second chances
not the designer of the stage
    yet still the architect of
an anecdote, I am the chauffeur
    of my inner wheel, and
I will write my final chapter, but
    not my ending

     The Paradox of Man

I am the wind that has blown and
    the current that is raging

I am the architect of stories
    and conveyor of myths

I am the truth that is a lie and
a lie that is the truth
I am the destroyer by night
    and creator by day
    I am a paradox, yet
convincing to all that know me

I am yesterday as told by a deceiver
and tomorrow as prophesied by madness
I am a dreamer that does not
trust in dreams yet still both
    hopeless and hopeful

    I am a reflection
    Of my own thoughts
    and disciple to my passions
    I am nothing more
    than just a man

On the death of Toni Morrison

I felt a thunder inside and outside
of my soul, as the earth shifted
    without moving, signifying
    the passing, of the one
who wrote the words that beloved me

    Kwanzaa

    it is the light
    of candles
    that shines brightly
    after a long journey
    of darkness,
    that empowers my soul
    and proclaims my place
    in the culture of humanity

it is the sounds that vibrate
across the earth with an echo
that whisper and sings my song

it is the smell of nameless souls
long gone, that was cast out
of the family of man, whose scent
    dwells beneath my skin

    it is the taste of
    the pain of yesterday, with
the flavor of hope for tomorrow
    proclaiming here I stand

it is the touching of my heart
    with your heart
    in joyful celebration
of the sacrifice of our ancestors

    The Tempest

I see an awakening on the horizon
    Elements coming together
    Erupting into compounds
    Brought about by benign neglect
    Rooted in history
Forged by the greed of others
    And composed without Ariel
    And the spirit world

It is slowly spreading across the globe
    Heating the third world
Forcing itself on the first world
    And disrupting the new world

You can see it in the eyes of the children
You can hear it in the voices of the youth

    Moving slowly but steady
    The Tempest is upon us

Nikki Giovanni - Cotton Candy on a Rainy Day

A peaceful breeze from the winds of destiny
flew in and clutched the soul of a poet,
rendering her to the pages of history

    Poitier, the Quiet Man

his fire was his presence and dignity.
    emitting compellingly,
    a rare strength,
    a savvy man
    always a Sir with love

    Interview

After many years working with a community-based agency as both a therapist and administrator. All along with working in academia as educator, I am now on the backside of life. My focus today is now on the creative arena with poetry, podcast, film and community tv.
